Places for People are supporting Get Online Week which runs from 18-24 October 2021.

The theme of Get Online Week this year is ‘Get online. Get connected.’ Getting online confidently and safely has never been more important. The pandemic has shown it is important for everyone to be able to connect with friends and family, access essential services, learn and work from home and keep up with the latest news.

Get free and friendly help to improve your digital skills and get connected.

Do you want to improve your digital skills or know someone in your neighbourhood who might benefit from it?

We are offering free digital training on a 1 to 1 basis to help customers who would like to improve their digital skills and build their confidence online. This is perfect for beginners who have no or limited digital skills, or for people who want to improve their existing digital skills. In some cases, we can help with access to equipment.

You could learn how to:

  • Video call family and friends Skype, Zoom calls
  • Book GP appointments and request repeat prescriptions online
  • How to shop or bank online
  • Manage your home online making payments, checking your balance, reporting repairs etc.
  • Stay safe online
  • No matter what you would like to learn we may be able to help - ask us!

Online workshops to get involved in

Places Learning is our online learning platform to help with topics such as:

  • Budgeting and Personal Money Management
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Noise Matters (which looks at what is “nuisance noise”)

These courses can be accessed by customers at a place or time convenient to you. If you are interested, please email and we will send you the login details to access these courses.


In partnership with WEA, we have also planned tutor-led digital training to help you make the most of being online and learn new skills:

  • Kumihimo - The art of Japanese braiding
    Monday 25 October 2021 12.30am - 2.00pm

Why not join us for this relaxing workshop exploring this ancient Japanese craft. It’s for people of all ages and it’s simple and fun.

  • Money Management workshop - Identifying the problem

Wednesday 3 November 2021 12.30am - 2.00pm

Do you want to get better at managing your money? This session will help you to learn to budget your money more effectively.
